Lucknow recognizes a few casual festivals held every few months, yet the most exciting and renowned celebration to visit the city for is none other than the annual Lucknow Festival itself. Hosted from the 25^th of November to the 5^th of December, the Lucknow Festival is a 15-day event organized by the Tourism and Lucknow District Administration, in order to put on display the colourful culture, lifestyle and artistic creations. The festival puts on display the immense colour, life and cultural traditions that Lucknow exemplifies, through interesting features such as recitals, traditional dramas, and kathak dance performances. The fun-filled family activities are also numerous, ranging from kite flying, rooster fighting, village games and ekka races. The participation soars each year, attracting visitors from all across the neighbouring cities, states and even the world. The Lucknow Festival is also a fabulous opportunity to collect beautiful handicrafts and souvenirs; all put on display by proud stall and shop owners in the city. As the biggest event and gathering of the year, you can also bet on there being delicious offerings of the native cuisine!
